This high-profile project had several unique challenges, one being the need for specialty installation equipment that could be brought in through the museum's front entrance, and transported through the building without damaging the marble floors throughout. The equipment could not produce any emissions and also needed to be mobilized to the worksite at night when the museum was closed. Because the piles needed to be installed to torque levels that were not achievable with handheld equipment, it was necessary to find a piece of equipment that could handle all of these unique challenges.

Fortunately, Kevin Koval with Adirondack Basement Systems was able to partner with JES using a special piece of equipment that he uses to install deck piers in his local market. Kevin was able to retrofit his equipment to utilize a detached hydraulic motor that was connected to his machine with hydraulic hoses that were run through a nearby window. The equipment was mobililzed through the Smithsonian's hallways on a pallet jack at night, and the project was completed during the daytime.

Congratulations to JES for landing such a great project and thanks to Kevin Koval for his assistance in getting the project completed. This is a cool example of the power of our dealer network and how great things can be accomplished by working together.
http://www.adirondackbasement.com/about-us/news-and-events/6149-adirondack-helps-install-new-construction-helical-piles-at-smithsonian-national-postal-museum-in-washington-dc.html Tue, February 19 2013, 00:00:00 -500 http://www.adirondackbasement.com/about-us/news-and-events/6149-adirondack-helps-install-new-construction-helical-piles-at-smithsonian-national-postal-museum-in-washington-dc.html Adirondack Basement Systems teams up with the Chamber Angels of Southern Saratoga County

Halfmoon, NY - Adirondack Basement Systems teamed up with the Chamber Angels, a program of The Chamber of Southern Saratoga County. The tugboat history of the region, and particularly Waterford, is especially rich. For most of the 20th century, tugboats lined the shores here, whether waiting to lock up through the magnificent “Flight” or competing for some day work with a local company.

The ubiquitous sight of these smoke-belching work horses festooned with manila and wood fendering, decks bunkered with coal against a back drop of elaborate detail work that tended to belie the strict functionality of these old girls, has been replaced by that of sailboats, cruisers, and catamarans lining the docks.

For one weekend each year, however, Waterford’s historic waterfront is transformed back into a rendering of its commercial heyday during which names like Godfrey, Coyne, Bushey, Matton, Kehoe, and Cowles figured so prominently. Tugs new and old moor stem to stern for adulation and education, enchanting the young and reminding the young at heart of days gone by.

The event is sponsored annually by the Town of Waterford and the Waterford Maritime Historical Society, in addition to many generous corporate sponsors. Usually held the weekend after Labor Day, the festival has grown steadily and attracts approximately 25,000 people to this sleepy canal town in the heart of upstate New York’s Capital Region. In addition to tours of the vessels and other displays, there is an ample supply of music, food, children’s activities, vendors, boat rides, fireworks, and family fun.

The Waterford Tugboat Roundup – where maritime history comes alive.

Visit www.Tugboatroundup.com for more information

Adirondack Basement System is the leading basement waterproofing contractor in New York offering free estimates on services in the area.
http://www.adirondackbasement.com/about-us/news-and-events/4981-adirondack-basement-systems-sponsors-the-waterford-tugboat-roundup.html Fri, September 7 2012, 00:00:00 -500 http://www.adirondackbasement.com/about-us/news-and-events/4981-adirondack-basement-systems-sponsors-the-waterford-tugboat-roundup.html Adirondack Basement Systems Receives Awards at International Convention in Connecticut

Adirondack Basement Systems was recently honored at a meeting of over 800 guests from all over the United States and Canada at this year’s Team Basement Systems Convention. Kevin was the winning bidder at the Make A Wish Foundation of Northeast New York’s Silver Anniversary Fundraiser held March 31 at the Hall of Springs in Saratoga Springs, NY. The event helped fund over 100 wishes to local children with life-threatening medical conditions. ‘He heard private plane ride and it was all over!’ Nicole told us on our way to the Schenectady County Airport .

Kevin had won a private plane ride for 8 with lunch at the Brant Point Grill located at the unforgettable White Elephant on Nantucket Island. He decided to make a day out of it and treated staff to a day of sightseeing, great food, and lots of fun! After enjoying the beautiful view and delicious lunch, the girls (and Kevin) walked the cobblestone streets and enjoyed some shopping, while the guys enjoyed some of the specialties at the Sea Dog Brew Pub. Our tour guide then treated us to a tour of the island which included seeing some celebrity homes, learning about the ‘rules’ of the island, driving by the beautiful cranberry bogs, enjoying the scenery near the Sankaty Head Lighthouse and ended with the crew dipping the feet in the ocean at one of the many public beaches on the island. Even though no one thought they could eat anything else, our Nantucket trip ended with dinner outside at the Brotherhood of Thieves back in the heart of Nantucket.

We couldn’t have asked for a better day- the weather was perfect and everyone had a fantastic time. (Although, Janneane is not in any hurry to get back on a small plane (or any plane for that matter!)

Kevin Koval and his team at [company] are the leading company providing basement waterproofing, crawl space repair, spray foam insulation and slab foundation repair in [state]. There's nothing worse than paying for something and expecting big changes, but seeing such a little return on investment. If you've had the pink and fluffy fiberglass insulation in your home then you might be able to relate with the distress of a faulty installation.

So, what's the other option for home insulation? Let's talk about spray foam insulation.

Spray Foam Basics

Many homeowners are looking for ways to go green and use less energy. When they pay for insulation thinking it'll reduce their energy usage and provide a more comfortable home, they may find their expectations unmet.

However, spray foam is a form of insulation that is less visible than the fluffy pink fiberglass insulation. This insulation is also capable of meeting multiple needs including sealing, lowering utility bills and protecting against pollutants in the air.

This insulation is ideal for use in a basement or a crawl space! Can you imagine the benefits of finishing a basement and having it completely sealed without any mold growth?! Now that's a bonus.

In addition, this spray foam insulation may even qualify you for a Federal Tax Credit. Make sure you cash in for your reward.

The Debate

Maybe you need more than just "spray foam is better than fiberglass" to be encouraged to buy spray foam for your home. Let's compare the fiberglass and spray foam insulations.

Spray foam insulation is a multifaceted polyurethane insulation that serves as a vapor barrier and an air barrier, which means you save more energy and money. In addition, spray foam is practically waterproof and doesn't fall apart and out of place. Unfortunately, fiberglass is only a thermal barrier and moist air can quickly flow through creating condensation leading to mold and mildew, and unfortunately, it frequently detaches and falls out of place.

As for lessening the job of the heating and cooling system? Spray foam does an excellent job because of its high R-value per inch. This means that it has a higher resistance to heat flow and a greater insulating value. It also provides more efficient sealing capabilities whereas fiberglass leaves gaps and open space.

Spray foam is durable, so much that critters and insects can't chew through its fibers, unlike fiberglass which is a constant nesting ground for animals and insects.

Contact Adirondack Basement Systems today for spray foam insulation in Albany, NY. We want to help in any way possible. As there is a growing need for food during the upcoming Holiday seasons, we will be collecting donations from October 21-November 11 near the Office Drop Off. But any donations made at other locations will be accumulated and given to the Northeastern Regional Food Bank for their Holiday Hunger Appeal.

The Hunger Appeal is the Northeastern Regional Food Bank's greatest opportunity to receive public donations and influence families in need. From mid-November until Christmas Eve volunteers will be setup at the Crossgates Mall to receive donations.

We're joining alongside other businesses to collect donations, please help us in providing those less fortunate than ourselves with quality food they can enjoy during the Holidays.

Oh, and this message is from Kevin Koval, owner of Adirondack:

"We have had a great start to the food drive this weekend! Our goal is to fill one of our trucks with donations. At our weekly production meeting today, my guys said that they will do whatever they can to fill a truck and if they reach that goal, they want me to shave my head. I reluctantly agreed, but added that my production manager, Rodney, would have to do the same. He agreed! So, if you all want to see me bald, send in your donations of non perishable food items! While you are doing that, I'll be shopping for hats...Thanks! The main concept is that water flows down hill and will ALWAYS find the path of least resistance (in this case that big open area under your home- your basement) Lets review a few: Builders spent monies on pretty things- cabinets, kitchens, floors, windows- items that homeowners look for when purchasing a home, and did the bare minimum in the water proofing of the basement. The water that the sump pump gets out of the basement must flow through them to be eliminated.

However, in some regions, cold winter weather may cause those discharge lines to freeze and completely clog.

As a result, when the water hits the clog, it begins to flow back into the sump pit, and the pump starts to recycle it, rather than simply pump it out.
That can lead to sump pump failure and consequently, to basement flood.

All these problems can be prevented with a simple and inexpensive attachment called IceGuard, developed by Basement Systems. The Ice Guard will keep the water flowing when the discharge pipes freeze.

Click here to see a video of the IceGuard in action.
