The Chamber Angels program identifies less fortunate children who would most likely not receive any gifts for Christmas through area schools and other non-profit organizations. Children’s wish lists are provided to individuals and businesses who agree to sponsor the child and fulfill their wish lists. All the gifts are distributed back through the schools or agencies, insuring that each child receives their desired gifts before the holidays.

The Chamber of Southern Saratoga County is a membership-based business organization representing over 900 businesses in the region. The mission is to work for members, customers and stakeholders to create a successful business environment, provide valuable resources and be a vigorous advocate for the business community, enhancing the quality of life in Southern Saratoga County.

Kevin Koval and the staff of Adirondack Basement Systems generously signed up to fulfill two children's wish lists for the 2013 holiday season.

In addition, the staff of Adirondack Basement Systems was also able to help a Queensbury family in need. The family, close friends of an Adk Basement Systems’ employee, was devastated when the father was diagnosed with testicular cancer that had spread to his lymph nodes. Unfortunately the family hadn’t been eligible for Health Insurance through their employer and bills were stacking up. The staff went above and beyond and provided their three girls ages 13, 6, and 2 with an amazing Christmas morning.
http://www.adirondackbasement.com/about-us/news-and-events/7991-adirondack-basement-systems-helps-families-in-need-this-holiday-season-1213.html Mon, December 30 2013, 00:00:00 -500 http://www.adirondackbasement.com/about-us/news-and-events/7991-adirondack-basement-systems-helps-families-in-need-this-holiday-season-1213.html Adirondack Basement Systems is Growing
Halfmoon, NY - Adirondack Basement Systems, the home of All Things Basementy, is pleased to announce the addition of 2 new System Design Specialists to the team- Adam Tranka and William ‘Bill’ Seabridge.

Adam comes to Adirondack Basement Systems having previously worked in heavy commercial and auto part sales. What do you want to do with the space? Are you going to use it for storage? Are you going to use it for a play room? A family room? A bedroom? These are all factors that come into play when we design a space for them,." explained Kevin Koval, President of Adirondack Basement Systems. "If there is a bedroom, we have to have an egress window in that bedroom in case there is an emergency. If there is just general living space just one egress is required." Finishing your basement instead of building an addition is typically less expensive.

"It's a space that is already constructed with walls. So when we come in, we're just finishing that space as opposed to putting an addition on their home where it's much more expensive because they have to put in the whole foundation, a heating system," said Koval. "Whereas with a basement that is finished, you already have a heating system in place, air conditioning, things like that so it should be less expensive to finish a basement than it would be to construct a whole addition on a home"

Before you finish your basement though, there are several factors you should consider. Moisture plays a huge role in the outcome.

"Is it a dry space? And when I say is it dry, what I really mean is has it ever flooded before and also is there a high humidity level in the basement? It's two separate things. If it's ever flooded, you want to make sure that you have the proper drainage system in place with a proper sump pump," said Koval. "With humidity, you want to make sure the humidity is controlled. Anything above 55 percent relative humidity, you can get mold growth in the basement and get that nasty, dank, musty smell that basements are known for. What you really want to do is seal up as much of the air infiltration that you can, and then condition the space with a good quality commercial dehumidifier."

The original article can be read on Central New York's Your News Now website.
http://www.adirondackbasement.com/about-us/news-and-events/7143-finishing-your-basement-can-add-liveable-space-to-your-home.html Tue, August 13 2013, 00:00:00 -500 http://www.adirondackbasement.com/about-us/news-and-events/7143-finishing-your-basement-can-add-liveable-space-to-your-home.html Adirondack Basement Systems Enjoys a Day At the Races!
The Design Specialists of Adirondack Basement System took on the Saratoga Race Course on Thursday, July 25 for the 15th Annual Northeastern Subcontractors Association Day at the Races! This high-profile project had several unique challenges, one being the need for specialty installation equipment that could be brought in through the museum's front entrance, and transported through the building without damaging the marble floors throughout. The equipment could not produce any emissions and also needed to be mobilized to the worksite at night when the museum was closed. Because the piles needed to be installed to torque levels that were not achievable with handheld equipment, it was necessary to find a piece of equipment that could handle all of these unique challenges.

Fortunately, Kevin Koval with Adirondack Basement Systems was able to partner with JES using a special piece of equipment that he uses to install deck piers in his local market. Kevin was able to retrofit his equipment to utilize a detached hydraulic motor that was connected to his machine with hydraulic hoses that were run through a nearby window. The equipment was mobililzed through the Smithsonian's hallways on a pallet jack at night, and the project was completed during the daytime.

Congratulations to JES for landing such a great project and thanks to Kevin Koval for his assistance in getting the project completed. This is a cool example of the power of our dealer network and how great things can be accomplished by working together.
http://www.adirondackbasement.com/about-us/news-and-events/6149-adirondack-helps-install-new-construction-helical-piles-at-smithsonian-national-postal-museum-in-washington-dc.html Tue, February 19 2013, 00:00:00 -500 http://www.adirondackbasement.com/about-us/news-and-events/6149-adirondack-helps-install-new-construction-helical-piles-at-smithsonian-national-postal-museum-in-washington-dc.html Adirondack Basement Systems teams up with the Chamber Angels of Southern Saratoga County

Halfmoon, NY - Adirondack Basement Systems teamed up with the Chamber Angels, a program of The Chamber of Southern Saratoga County. The Chamber Angels provide holiday gifts to underprivileged children by generously donating toys, clothes, and other personal items.

Kevin Koval and the staff of Adirondack Basement Systems generously signed up to fulfill four children's wish lists for the 2012 holiday season.

http://www.adirondackbasement.com/about-us/news-and-events/5613-adirondack-basement-systems-teams-up-with-the-chamber-angels-of-southern-saratoga-county.html Sun, December 16 2012, 00:00:00 -500 http://www.adirondackbasement.com/about-us/news-and-events/5613-adirondack-basement-systems-teams-up-with-the-chamber-angels-of-southern-saratoga-county.html 4 Complete Basement Systems Advanced Training
Adirondack Basement Systems is pleased to announce that four members of our team recently completed Advanced Sales Training held in Tornoto, Canada. Join the fun with a tour of the tugs, enjoy the music, shop the vendors, and taste the great food. There will be clowns, face-painting, puppet shows, pony rides, and games for the kids, all followed by Fireworks Saturday night! Free admission for the entire event (ticket cost only for tour boat rides).

The Waterford Tugboat Roundup began in 1999 as a way to preserve and promote the maritime industrial heritage of the New York State Canal System and other adjoining inland waterways. The tugboat history of the region, and particularly Waterford, is especially rich. For most of the 20th century, tugboats lined the shores here, whether waiting to lock up through the magnificent “Flight” or competing for some day work with a local company.

The ubiquitous sight of these smoke-belching work horses festooned with manila and wood fendering, decks bunkered with coal against a back drop of elaborate detail work that tended to belie the strict functionality of these old girls, has been replaced by that of sailboats, cruisers, and catamarans lining the docks.

For one weekend each year, however, Waterford’s historic waterfront is transformed back into a rendering of its commercial heyday during which names like Godfrey, Coyne, Bushey, Matton, Kehoe, and Cowles figured so prominently. Tugs new and old moor stem to stern for adulation and education, enchanting the young and reminding the young at heart of days gone by.

The event is sponsored annually by the Town of Waterford and the Waterford Maritime Historical Society, in addition to many generous corporate sponsors. Usually held the weekend after Labor Day, the festival has grown steadily and attracts approximately 25,000 people to this sleepy canal town in the heart of upstate New York’s Capital Region. In addition to tours of the vessels and other displays, there is an ample supply of music, food, children’s activities, vendors, boat rides, fireworks, and family fun.

The Waterford Tugboat Roundup – where maritime history comes alive.

Visit www.Tugboatroundup.com for more information

Adirondack Basement System is the leading basement waterproofing contractor in New York offering free estimates on services in the area.
http://www.adirondackbasement.com/about-us/news-and-events/4981-adirondack-basement-systems-sponsors-the-waterford-tugboat-roundup.html Fri, September 7 2012, 00:00:00 -500 http://www.adirondackbasement.com/about-us/news-and-events/4981-adirondack-basement-systems-sponsors-the-waterford-tugboat-roundup.html Adirondack Basement Systems Receives Awards at International Convention in Connecticut

Adirondack Basement Systems was recently honored at a meeting of over 800 guests from all over the United States and Canada at this year’s Team Basement Systems Convention.
