Adirondack Helps Install New Construction Helical Piles at Smithsonian National Postal Museum in Washington, D.C.

Adirondack Basement Systems recently partnered with JES Foundation Repair to help install new construction helical piles at the Smithsonian National Postal Museum in Washington, D.C. This high-profile project had several unique challenges, one being the need for specialty installation equipment that could be brought in through the museum's front entrance, and transported through the building without damaging the marble floors throughout. The equipment could not produce any emissions and also needed to be mobilized to the worksite at night when the museum was closed. Because the piles needed to be installed to torque levels that were not achievable with handheld equipment, it was necessary to find a piece of equipment that could handle all of these unique challenges.

Fortunately, Kevin Koval with Adirondack Basement Systems was able to partner with JES using a special piece of equipment that he uses to install deck piers in his local market. Kevin was able to retrofit his equipment to utilize a detached hydraulic motor that was connected to his machine with hydraulic hoses that were run through a nearby window. The equipment was mobililzed through the Smithsonian's hallways on a pallet jack at night, and the project was completed during the daytime.

Congratulations to JES for landing such a great project and thanks to Kevin Koval for his assistance in getting the project completed. This is a cool example of the power of our dealer network and how great things can be accomplished by working together.

The Chamber Angels provide holiday gifts to underprivileged children by generously donating toys, clothes, and other personal items. The Chamber Angels program identifies less fortunate children who would most likely not receive any gifts for Christmas through area schools and other non-profit organizations. Children’s wish lists are provided to individuals and businesses who agree to sponsor the child and fulfill their wish lists. All the gifts are distributed back through the schools or agencies, insuring that each child receives their desired gifts before the holidays.

The Chamber of Southern Saratoga County is a membership-based business organization representing over 900 businesses in the region. The mission is to work for members, customers and stakeholders to create a successful business environment, provide valuable resources and be a vigorous advocate for the business community, enhancing the quality of life in Southern Saratoga County.

With the help of customers and the community, Kevin Koval and our team at Adirondack Basement Systems donated over 500 pounds of food to the Northeastern New York Regional Food Bank this year!

In 2011 The Northeastern New York Regional Food Bank distributed over 25 million lbs of food. The total is expect that to climb even higher this year!

The Northeastern New York Regional Food Bank serves over 1,000 charitable agencies and more than 244,400 people received food assistance because of the areas efforts including 85,000 children and 13,000 seniors.

The Waterford Tugboat Roundup began in 1999 as a way to preserve and promote the maritime industrial heritage of the New York State Canal System and other adjoining inland waterways. The tugboat history of the region, and particularly Waterford, is especially rich. For most of the 20th century, tugboats lined the shores here, whether waiting to lock up through the magnificent “Flight” or competing for some day work with a local company.

The ubiquitous sight of these smoke-belching work horses festooned with manila and wood fendering, decks bunkered with coal against a back drop of elaborate detail work that tended to belie the strict functionality of these old girls, has been replaced by that of sailboats, cruisers, and catamarans lining the docks.

For one weekend each year, however, Waterford’s historic waterfront is transformed back into a rendering of its commercial heyday during which names like Godfrey, Coyne, Bushey, Matton, Kehoe, and Cowles figured so prominently. Tugs new and old moor stem to stern for adulation and education, enchanting the young and reminding the young at heart of days gone by.

The event is sponsored annually by the Town of Waterford and the Waterford Maritime Historical Society, in addition to many generous corporate sponsors. Usually held the weekend after Labor Day, the festival has grown steadily and attracts approximately 25,000 people to this sleepy canal town in the heart of upstate New York’s Capital Region. This past Saturday, Aug 11, Family First presented its first of two days of music and family fun! Adirondack Basement Systems visits Nantucket for Charity!

On July 11, Kevin Koval, owner of Adirondack Basement Systems, brought 6 lucky employees (and long-time girlfriend Nicole) to Nantucket for the day. Kevin was the winning bidder at the Make A Wish Foundation of Northeast New York’s Silver Anniversary Fundraiser held March 31 at the Hall of Springs in Saratoga Springs, NY. The event helped fund over 100 wishes to local children with life-threatening medical conditions. ‘He heard private plane ride and it was all over!’ Nicole told us on our way to the Schenectady County Airport .

Kevin had won a private plane ride for 8 with lunch at the Brant Point Grill located at the unforgettable White Elephant on Nantucket Island. He decided to make a day out of it and treated staff to a day of sightseeing, great food, and lots of fun! After enjoying the beautiful view and delicious lunch, the girls (and Kevin) walked the cobblestone streets and enjoyed some shopping, while the guys enjoyed some of the specialties at the Sea Dog Brew Pub. Our tour guide then treated us to a tour of the island which included seeing some celebrity homes, learning about the ‘rules’ of the island, driving by the beautiful cranberry bogs, enjoying the scenery near the Sankaty Head Lighthouse and ended with the crew dipping the feet in the ocean at one of the many public beaches on the island. Even though no one thought they could eat anything else, our Nantucket trip ended with dinner outside at the Brotherhood of Thieves back in the heart of Nantucket.

We couldn’t have asked for a better day- the weather was perfect and everyone had a fantastic time. (Although, Janneane is not in any hurry to get back on a small plane (or any plane for that matter!)

Adirondack Basement Systems Kicks Off the Holiday Season

The Adirondack Basement Systems team kicked off the holiday season this year with a whole lot of holiday cheer.

On Novemeber 13th Kevin Koval and his team, along with their children and significant others all participated in the 2011 Halfmoon Holiday Parade for the second year in a row. The Adirondack Basement systems team road through the town of Halfmoon atop their Santa's Work Shop Themed Float, tossing candy to on looking children.

Adirondack along with fire trucks, musical groups, color guard performers and dance groups all passed through the town of Halfmoon spreading the holiday spirit up Guideboard Rd. to the intersection with Rt. 236 and straight through to the Town Hall. With temperatures in the 50's, this mild weathered parade was the perfect opportunity to break out your holiday essentials... hat, mittens and holiday cheer.

With the help of their customers and comunity, Kevin Koval and his team at Adirondack Basement Systems donated 517 pounds of food to the Northeastern New York Regional Food Bank this year!

In 2010 The Northeastern New York Regional Food Bank distributed over 24 million lbs of food in 2010 the total is expect that to climb even higher this year! A Portion of that total came from food drives, which last year brought in 81,132 lbs and over $18,700 for hunger relief.

The Northeastern New York Regional Food Bank serves over 1,000 charitable agencies and more than 244,000 people received food assistance because of the areas efforts.

Halfmoon, NY – Adirondack Basement Systems was recently honored at a meeting of over 600 guests from all over the United States and Canada at this year’s Team Basement Systems Convention. The annual convention is held each year between Seymour, Connecticut, (where the Basement Systems headquarters is located) and Hartford, Connecticut, and brings together dealerships of the international network for classes, seminars, training, parties and networking.

This year, Adirondack Basement Systems received an award at the Team Basement Systems International Convention. Adirondack Basement Systems was ranked as one of the Top 25 Basement Systems Dealers in the United States and Canada.

The convention featured guest speakers Krish Duhnam (of the Zig Ziglar corporation), and the “Pit bull of Personal Development” Larry Winget. A sports-themed party at the Connecticut Convention Center ended the convention week with music, food and performances by the Harlem Wizards and the New England Patriots Cheerleaders.

When James Deere was diagnosed last year with a very rare Strep Type A blood infection, his family wasn’t sure he was going to make it. His kidneys were failing and he was suffering from toxic shock. This attack on this little boy’s blood stream resulted in his left arm and right leg being amputated, as well as a stroke and hypoxia of the cerebellum (lack of oxygen supply to the brain).

During this time James endured intensive treatment at hospitals and was fitted for prosthesis, while his mother took a leave of absence from her job and his father closed his restaurant so they could both be there for their child.

Recently, James was finally able to return home, but was in need of a clean, comfortable room to continue daily physical therapy in. That’s where Adirondack Basement Systems came in.

The Make-A-Wish Foundation of Northeast New York reached out to Kevin Koval, owner of Adirondack Basement Systems, and explained the situation. The Adirondack team didn’t hesitate to lend a hand.

“We finished 850 square feet of basement for the family including flooring, ceilings and an egress window,” Koval said. “They will be using it for a rehabilitation area.”

Total Basement Finishing donated all of the finishing materials. James is now recovering well at home with his family. Great job to Kevin Koval and the rest of the Adirondack crew for helping this family return to normalcy.

MDA Lock Up Program Puts NY Basement Waterproofing Expert Behind Bars

Saratoga Springs, NY - Kevin Koval, the owner of Adirondack Basement Systems, has been locked up since Thursday December 16, 2010 for having too big of a heart-- he's spending time locked up at the Wheatfields downtown until his bail is met. This bail will then be donated to the Muscular Dystrophy Association (MDA).

His bail has been set at $2,400 and thus far about half has been met.

The MDA's Lock Up event is a fun and unique event that involves the entire community and brings awareness to those who battle with Muscular Dystrophy (MD), Amyotrophic lateral sclerosis (ALS-- Lou Gehrig's Disease) and other such diseases. The bail money will be donated to the MDA to help with clinic development, research, support, and the organization of camps.

Adirondack Helps Regional Food Bank Collect Food For Holidays And Guess Who's Shaving His Head

Adirondack acknowledges the need for food across the United States and within our very own New York state. We want to help in any way possible. As there is a growing need for food during the upcoming Holiday seasons, we will be collecting donations from October 21-November 11 near the Office Drop Off. But any donations made at other locations will be accumulated and given to the Northeastern Regional Food Bank for their Holiday Hunger Appeal.

The Hunger Appeal is the Northeastern Regional Food Bank's greatest opportunity to receive public donations and influence families in need. From mid-November until Christmas Eve volunteers will be setup at the Crossgates Mall to receive donations.

We're joining alongside other businesses to collect donations, please help us in providing those less fortunate than ourselves with quality food they can enjoy during the Holidays.

On Capital News 9 Channel, Kevin Koval of Adirondack Basement Systems presented the idea of having Dry Basement and its advantage.
