A homeowner in Berne, NY had a blocked foundation with structural issues. Hydrostatic pressure was causing the blocks to deteriorate and compromise the structural integrity of the home. They contacted Adirondack Basement Systems to receive a FREE estimate and figure out what solutions there were for repairing the foundation. Our Design Specialist, Bill Seabridge did a thorough inspection inside and outside of the home to decipher what damage had already happened and what might've caused it. He found a variety of cracks including stairstep cracks in the blocks and hairline cracks throughout the concrete slabs in both the garage and the basement. Some of the walls were showing signs of bowing and the overhang porch above the garage was sloping towards the center.
Bill sat down with the homeowners to discuss what he found and present the solutions he knew would be most ideal for their home. He suggested that we install push piers to help stabilize the foundation and solve settlement problems. Supportworks Push Piers are constructed with galvanized steel and can reach greater depths than any other repair option. They also help provide opportunity to lift the foundation back to its original position. The push piers were installed by being hydraulically driven through the soil until they reached bedrock or stable soil. This allows the weight of the home to be transferred onto the load-bearing soil. Once installed, they were able to lift the foundation back to its original position. Now that the foundation is stabilized, they will no longer have to worry about structural damage.

An egress window is a window that is required in specific locations in a dwelling and must meet specific size requirements to qualify as an egress window. These concrete block walls of this basement were crumbling, so the owner came to us for a solution. We installed our Power Bracing System, which is a steel I-beam that is braced against the foundation wall and uses the concrete floor and the floor joist to stabilize the wall. Two concrete anchors are used to hold the brace in place against the bottom of the foundation wall. Essentially, the power braces permanently stabilize your home's foundation walls. We also used CleanSpace over the grout on the lower portion of the wall.

Our knowledgeable Design Specialist proposed The SaniDry Sedona, the world's most efficient, high-performance dehumidifier and filtration system, without a bulky heat exchange core. With its small size, it takes up less space in a basement and easily fits in small crawlspaces. It eliminates damp and musty odors, and also removes up to 95 pints of water per day. We also installed a TripleSafe Sump Pump System, which keeps your basement dry with triple the protection. Most sump pumps fail because of either a failed pump, a pump that can't handle high volumes of water or power failure. The TripleSafe assures protection from all three sump pump problems. A bubbler pot was installed as well. Our customer in Delmar, NY, called us with concerns of water leaking into her basement after heavy rainstorms. Our Design Specialist Tyler Dahlin went to check out the home, and see what was going on. He proposed a long-term waterproofing solution, starting with the WaterGuard drainage system. This system, which is hidden, catches any water leaks, whether it is coming from the floor, or through the wall. The water is then pumped out of the house through our Exterior Discharge Line, which is protected by our IceGuard to prevent the line from freezing.
Our next step for this basement was installing our TripleSafe Sump Pump System. This system keeps your basement dry with three levels of protection. The first pump within the system is set at the lowest level, which is made for normal use. The second pump is higher up, used in case the first pump fails, or the level of water goes above the first pump. The third pump, which is connected to our UltraSump battery, is used in case of a power outage. Our system gives you peace of mind that, even if there is a long power outage, your basement still won't flood! We also included our WaterWatch alarm system, so that the homeowner is aware that something is wrong. The alarm is inserted down into the sump liner and rest on top of the cover. It will sound off if the water rises above the pumps. This can usually happen if there is sediment, or a large object blocking the port. This measure ensures that your basement will be protected.

The big problem this homeowner had was water getting into their basement. While the traditional basement storm doors may not be as prevalent today, that does not mean there isn’t a solution to keeping moisture out. However, keeping it out is only half the battle; the other is keeping the water far away.
Our design specialist came up with a plan that focused primarily on shifting the drainage away from the house. The two big products that make this happen are the TripleSafe Sump System and the WaterGuard; both of these pieces of tech help pump the water away from the basement and ensures that none of it gets out in the process. Then, as an extra precaution, we also installed an IceGuard and LawnScape System to help keep the elements from interfering with the drainage process. All these products work together like an all-star team to help make this customer’s basement a winning environment.
This homeowner wanted an egress window installed to provide ventilation and safety all while adding an aesthetically pleasing touch to their basement. Since this job didn’t require a replacement of a pre-existing window, instead putting in an entirely new one, a great amount of work lay ahead. First and foremost, precise measurements were taken and double-checked to make sure everything was accurate—even the slightest mistake during this step could lead to disastrous results. Once the measurements and spot (in this instance it was in between the deck and original window) are settled on, it’s time to dig! In order to make room for both the window and RockWell, a sizeable chunk had to be dug up to allocate the proper space needed. For a job like this, we do the digging ourselves; streamlining the process and making installation as quick and efficient as possible. With the area now clear, we were free to start the actual installation. Finally, after we’ve secured the products in place and checked their integrity, we clean up the mess we made and leave the homeowner with a fresh, safe space.
Like any structure, it’s important to have a good foundation. Your basement is vital to the health and strength of your home, so it’s important to be aware of any issues that exist or improvements that can be made. This homeowner wanted to accomplish two things: improve the integrity of their walls and make the space look nicer. The two primary products that accomplish this? CarbonArmor and BrightWall.
The first step in this job was to survey the basement and determine where the CarbonArmor would work best. In the pictures, the orange tape you can see on the walls indicate where a strip of CarbonArmor was to be installed. CarbonArmor is all about permanently stabilizing the foundation walls of your home. CarbonArmor uses fiber-reinforced polymers which are flexible enough to form perfectly against any basement wall and 10 times stronger than steel, so you know its got the proper strength to keep the walls from bowing or deteriorating. Installation of CarbonArmor is super quick and non-invasive; all it needs to do is attach to the floor joist. After the CarbonArmor was put in place, We added BrightWall over the top of the CarbonArmor to give the basement a clean, finished look while also providing an effective moisture and vapor barrier. CleanSpace is waterproof, stain-resistant, and easy to clean, making this product the perfect pick if you’re looking to give your basement a fresh look and provide water protection at the same time.
The fight against intruding water is an ongoing battle for many homeowners. Sometimes it seems like no matter what is done, the water still comes, leading many to believe a flooded basement is inevitable. But that is far from the reality. When it comes to keeping moisture and water from building up in your home, all it takes is the right product.
This homeowner had serious concerns about the water in their basement. Even with a sump pump already in their house, water kept coming in and overstaying its welcome. After meeting with our design specialist, a new course of action was drawn up to replace the old one in place—and that included replacing the ineffective, pre-existing sump pump.
There were three primary products used to boost this basement’s waterproofing system. Since sump pumps were already being discussed, that’s where we’ll start. While many houses have sump pumps installed, over the years they become outdated or get worn down to the point where they can hardly handle a fraction of what they used to. This happens especially when the pump is not serviced regularly. We decided to replace the old pump with a brand-new SinglePack Super Sump, which is a top-of-the-line pump designed to handle high levels of water without any trouble. We also paired this product with proper additions that help it function at its greatest potential even in the event of freezing temperatures or heavy downpours.
Working in tandem with the SinglePack are a series of WaterGuards and a CleanSpace system. The WaterGuards were installed where the walls meet the floor. This process is done carefully as to avoid doing any damage to the foundation of the house. Our installation team takes their time to make room for the WaterGuards and then when placing them in the proper spot, connecting the pieces along the way, they keep a close eye on the WaterGuards, checking to see if there’s any gaps or holes where water could get through. WaterGuards are designed to collect any moisture that seeps in through either the wall or the floor and then divert it into the main discharge system; in this case that would be the SinglePack Super Sump, which sends the water out of the house to a distance far enough away where it won’t come back. Finally, to add an extra layer of moisture protection to the waterproofing system, CleanSpace was installed along the basement walls to help out the WaterGuards. CleanSpace acts as an effective vapor barrier, pairing perfectly with WaterGuards to give moisture zero chance of getting through. With all these products, pooling water won’t ever be a problem for this house!
This job was a well-rounded waterproofing for a large basement space. Water had been entering and pooling in the basement, causing water damage and frustrating the homeowner. Thankfully, there was a solution to their problems! Let’s break this job down into three parts, focusing on a different primary product used for each section.
First, there’s the WaterGuards. WaterGuard was the perfect product for this basement because it helps keep any water from pooling and diverts it away to the sump pump (more on that later). WaterGuards attach to the joists of the wall and floor, allowing them to collect moisture seeping in from either direction. The best way to think about WaterGuards is to imagine them like a gutter for the inside of your basement, gathering the water and diverting it away from the house; in this job’s case with the help of a TripleSafe Sump System.
The TripleSafe works off of the WaterGuards by using its power to send the water that’s been collected out of the house to a distance away where it won’t come back. The TripleSafe was perfect for this homeowner because it is able to handle high-volumes of water and with a bigger basement comes the opportunity for more water. And, as an added bonus and layer of protection, the TripleSafe has a battery backup in case of a power outage and when paired with the IceGuard, like this homeowner went with, it also stays running during freezing temperatures, meaning you won't have to worry about a flooding basement even during bad weather.
Finally, we have the CleanSpace. CleanSpace was installed along the walls of the basement to provide a vapor barrier. 20 mm thick and made of 7 layers of a polyethylene composition with a polyester cord reinforcement, CleanSpace is super durable. CleanSpace is perfect for keeping mositure from seeping through the walls and helps insulate the space during the cold months, helping you save money year-round.
With these three products and some minor ones helping out, this basement is highly protected from any water that tries to get in!
This job took place in a large, long, low crawl space, involving a number a number of products. Upon our first visit, our design specialist instantly noted a significant amount of water and damage to the crawl space that would have to be addressed before we could even begin the installation. After years of no protection and constant exposure to water, this crawl space’s condition was not good. The process in restoring and improving the area to a strong, healthy level began by clearing the debris and getting the water out. Once that was completed and the space was dry, we went in and began taking measurements and prepping the floors and walls for installation. As evident by the photos, CleanSpace is the most visible product that was used, but there were a number of other products involved in the waterproofing plan; Drainage Matting and two sump pumps were also installed. Drainage Matting goes underneath the CleanSpace on the floor and helps direct any seeping moisture into the drain lines where it is then pumped out by the sump systems. The two sump pumps installed were different models, one was a TripleSafe which is optimized for high volumes of water thanks to its tri-pump system that increases in power when it detects more water coming in. The other sump was a SinglePack which was brought in to help out the TripleSafe manage all the water since the crawl space is rather large. And the final product, which was mentioned earlier, the CleanSpace system, is a great vapor barrier that helps keep seeping moisture at bay and assist the other waterproofing products as well. This job revamped this crawl space tremendously and water damage is no longer a problem for this home because of these fantastic products.
This basement was experiencing stair step cracks going up the walls. Damage like this is typically a symptom of bowing walls, so its important to have this problem addressed before any horrific damage occurs. Potentially caused by the bowing walls, the floor above the basement was also sagging, so that also needed to be addressed. Our design specialist went over the space, taking a close look at the displacement and damage then recommended two products: PowerBraces and SmartJacks.
The installation process started by clearing out the area to give our workers easy access to the walls and get a more accurate feel for what needs to be done. We then marked off precise locations for where the PowerBraces and SmartJacks would be installed after measuring the height of the basement to determine what sizes would be needed. The PowerBraces are custom-cut to size then attached at the floor and joist, adjusted to perfectly fit to the wall and stabilize it from buckling any more. PowerBraces also have the ability to be tightened over time and potentially straighten the walls back to their original position. The SmartJacks were then brought in to do the same exact thing that the PowerBraces do, only they assist the floor/ceiling as opposed to the wall. SmartJacks have the same ability as PowerBraces to be tightened and help lift the floor back to an even position. Both of these products are strong, highly durable and rust-resistant, meaning this foundation will have tremendous support for years to come.
This house was built in late 1920s and was experiencing some leakage in the basement. With old structures like this, it’s only a matter of time before water issues arise. There’s no escaping the rain, so it’s bound to get in eventually. The most notable damage could be found on the walls and some damp spots on the floor. The good news was there wasn’t any foundation issues to go along with it so solving the water troubles was relatively simple!
First, we measured out a path for a WaterGuard and then got to work creating space to install the system along the joists where the walls meet the floor. The WaterGuard collects moisture seeping in through the walls or floor and redirects it to the TripleSafe sump pump that we also installed. There was already a pump of sorts in the basement, but it was very old and ineffective. We were able to use the original spot for the TripleSafe, which saves time and makes the process much smoother. The TripleSafe is our most powerful model and has no trouble handling water as it comes. Attached to the TripleSafe on the outside of the house is an IceGuard which prevents the water from freezing in cold temperatures and thus causing the sump to stop working. Finally, our CleanSpace system was installed (custom cut for the basement) along the walls to act as a vapor barrier to help keep the moisture at bay and redirect it down to the WaterGuard before it has the chance to cause any damage. This old basement’s waterproofing system works like brand new thanks to these products!
This homeowner’s crawl space walls were sinking, causing foundation issues that could’ve caused serious damage if not addressed properly in a timely manner. There was access to the crawl space so our Design Specialist worked his way into the small area and took a look around, inspecting the walls and support beams to determine how displaced they had become. They then recommended the customer have SmartJacks installed to give the floors above a lift and to take much of the pressure off of the walls and keep them from sinking. The Design Specialist then passed the job off to our installation team.
To start off, our crew installed support beams running parallel to one another at the top of the crawl space. Then, they placed the custom-sized SmartJacks underneath and adjusted them to the exact level they need to be. Once in position, they fastened the support piers to the beams, providing a cohesive boost to the foundation. In total, there were nine SmartJacks put in and they immediately began doing wonders for the crawl space. The walls no longer would have to succumb to the immense weight of the house alone. SmartJacks are super strong and highly durable, able to take the brunt of the load and keep the foundation from sinking any further. Plus, they are completely adjustable so over time they can be tightened to lift the displaced floor back to its original position!
Windows take quite a beating over the years, whether it be from water or bugs or what have you. If their integrity starts to crumble, then it’ll lead to trouble for the rest of your basement and beyond. For someone looking to upgrade their windows and brighten up the look of their home, EverLast is the way to go.
The installation process for EverLast windows begins with lots of measuring, taking the utmost care around every corner and every millimeter; one wrong number and the window is useless. Each one is custom-fit for the job so there is no room for error. We double and triple check everything to ensure it's right the first time. Once we’re 100% confident with our work, we got the window ordered and assembled, then took out the old one, clearing away any debris left over. Then, we prepped the sill for the EverLast. Afterwards, we placed the new window in its proper place, double-checking our measurements once again, then sealing it in tight, making sure there’s no openings for water or bugs or animals to get. And with that, the job was done! This homeowner no longer had to worry about things getting in or heat getting out thanks to our EverLast windows!
The older a home gets, the more likely foundation problems are to arise. One issue that appears with time is bowing walls, which can lead to serious trouble if left untreated. This homeowner noticed their basement walls buckling out of place a bit, so they called us to see what could be done. In a situation like this, there’s only one product that can effectively keep the damage from getting worse: PowerBraces.
To start, we measured the basement space as a whole and the wall’s displacement from its original position. Next, we checked where the wall was weakest, determining if there are any locations that may require more support than others. Even spacing for the PowerBraces is important because if one spot is taking on more than another, then the entire system could collapse due to the uneven weight distribution. To prevent this from happening, we take extra care during the planning phase, precisely mapping out the location of each PowerBrace. Once we marked the spots and double checked our work, we brought in the right sized PowerBraces and cut them down to perfectly fit to the wall. Installation is not invasive and the braces fit snugly in without any intrusion. We attached them at the joists and created a nice, snug fit between the PowerBraces and the wall. And that’s that. PowerBraces will keep the walls from bowing any further and can be tightened to bring the wall back to its proper place.
This job story highlights two products part of a larger waterproofing system: CleanSpace and Drainage Matting. These two typically go hand in hand with one another and do a great job of controlling incoming moisture. This basement was experiencing a great deal of seeping water from the walls and floors, which led to pooling and damage. Our installation team, in order to keep the water coming in to a minimum and redirecting what does come in, placed Drainage Matting on the floor and CleanSpace on the walls. Both the Drainage Matting and the CleanSpace act as strong vapor barriers designed to stop pooling water. This basement also had a new TripleSafe sump pump installed so the CleanSpace and Drainage Matting help facilitate moisture that does manage to get through the walls or floors to the pump where it is sent out and away from the home. If you’re looking to provide your basement with a solid layer of protection, Drainage Matting and CleanSpace are the perfect choice!
This job combined both waterproofing and foundation support. Looking first at the foundation portion, the house in question was experiencing sagging floors up on the first level, which means the support beams in the crawl space underneath needed support. The perfect product to accomplish this was SmartJacks. Our team measured the height of the crawl space, as well as the displacement of the pre-existing beams, then brought in SmartJacks of the proper height. They spaced them out properly around the crawl space in order to provide even support throughout. This is key because if the weight is displaced, then it’s very likely that the portion under the most stress will fail. Once the SmartJacks were in place, they were secured underneath the support beams and tightened up against them. Over time, SmartJacks can be tightened even more to raise the floor back to its original level.
On the Waterproofing front, the photos display a simple TripleSafe-EDC setup. WaterGuards were also installed to help facilitate the water, but they are not visible in any pictures. For reference, they are placed at the base of the wall where it meets the floor. The TripleSafe is an excellent sump pump with three levels of operation, automatically switching based on the amount of water coming in to the sump. The TripleSafe ejects the water through the EDC pipes you see in the middle photos (they get covered up after installation, don’t worry), and out into the storm drain.
All these products are excellent in their own right and do what is needed to get your home feeling like a place you can be comfortable living in.
This home was over 100 years old and its basement’s waterproofing system was, more or less, nonexistent. Water is, unfortunately, an inevitable threat to basements so it’s important they are given the proper attention they need to prevent flooding and damage. This is especially the case when it comes to older structures like this one. The first step in the job process was for one of our certified design specialists to do a full inspection of the basement and come up with an effective plan to keep the water at bay. With the state this basement was in, a complete waterproofing system was required.
After drawing up the plan and both parties agreeing to it, it was passed on to the installation team and they got to work. The first step was clearing out the basement so there was room for the team to operate. Next, drainage matting was laid out on the floor to help facilitate any water that might find its way into the basement to the sump pump where it is sent away from the home. Along the walls, CleanSpace, a highly durable vapor barrier, was spread from floor to ceiling. CleanSpace’s purpose is to keep seeping moisture from getting through the walls and into the basement, redirecting it down into the WaterGuard at the bottom of the wall where it too goes to the sump pump. The original pump in this basement was basically just a giant hole, so adding a TripleSafe to the waterproofing system was a tremendous boost. This homeowner had a crawl space that was old, musty, and in rough shape. They called us to come take a look and see what could be done to improve the area. The crawl space was located through a small opening off the basement, but that was no problem for our design specialist. They got right in there and properly surveyed the entire crawl space, taking measurements and pictures that helped them draw up a plan of action. Thankfully, this crawl space didn’t require too much work to improve its condition. The two primary products used to provide a solid layer of protection from moisture that was causing the odor and poor air quality. First, a layer of drainage matting was laid on the ground of the crawl space to help facilitate water and keep it from pooling. Along the walls and over the drainage matting on the floor, CleanSpace was spread out all around to act as a vapor barrier to keep moisture seeping in from the outside soil from causing issues. CleanSpace is a 4-layer polyethylene composition that is highly durable and reliable, giving this crawl space protection for years to come. Once completed, the foreperson of the crew showed the homeowner the work they did and explained how everything functions. And that was that! This crawl space was renovated to a clean, healthy condition!
This job takes a look at two products, the TripleSafe sump pump and WaterGuard, showcasing their relationship to one another. The homeowner gave us a call because they were dealing with moisture seeping in from the soil outside the basement, causing damage and pooling. One of our certified design specialists went out and surveyed the basement to find a proper solution to this persistent problem. The plan that was ultimately drawn up and approved by the homeowner was a full perimeter system paired with a TripleSafe; a common and effective method of handling water problems.
Work to install this system began by removing portions of the wall and floor, where the two touch. This is done to make room for the WaterGuard which is tucked underneath the bottom of the wall to collect water and redirect it towards the sump pump. This helps prevent any moisture from building up and pooling in the basement. After the product is tightly secured in place, the installation team re-poured the concrete and replaced the portions of the walls they removed. They then moved on to installing the TripleSafe sump pump which involved placing it in the ground and hooking up discharge pipes to it that run out of the house, underneath the ground, and to a LawnScape outlet a proper distance away from the home that the water doesn’t come running right back in. Anything the WaterGuard system running around the edges of the basement collects gets sent to the TripleSafe where it is pumped out for good!
Basement windows play different roles depending on the purpose of the space, but the bottom line is they are important to every home. This homeowner had a finished basement that they wanted to feature more natural light while still being protected from all nature may throw at it. One of our certified design specialists surveyed the space and conversed with the homeowner to collectively come up with the perfect placement for a new window that is pretty, practical, and protective. They marked off the spot where the window would go with tape at properly measured intervals. A custom window was then ordered, matching the dimensions taken at the appointment. When the window arrived, the installation team got to work on the inside and outside of the house, clearing out area in the ground and wall to allow room to work and for the window well. The window was then installed, not allowing even the smallest gap between the pane and the wall. With the window secured, the well was installed with a protective covering to keep water, animals, and people from falling in. The team then filled in the ground they removed and double-checked their work to ensure that there were no gaps and everything was properly cleaned. And that was that! This home’s basement got an aesthetically pleasing upgrade that everyone can be proud of.
Basements with multiple rooms can be a bit more complicated to waterproof, but not a problem for us! The estimate process remained the same, the design specialist surveyed each room and every corner, gauging how serious the water troubles were, while finding the entry points in the process. The installation team began by removing the bottom of the walls to make room for the WaterGuard. The best way to think about WaterGuard is like an indoor gutter system. It rests where the walls meet the floor, collecting water as it comes in and directing it to the sump pump. In the case of this basement, there were a few areas where things were in the way, preventing the team from getting at the walls, so in those instances, they installed TrenchDrain. TrenchDrain is WaterGuard, but for the open floor. It picks up where WaterGuard leaves off, going around the objects in the way and then meeting back up with WaterGuard on the other side. The entire track connected through all the rooms and led to the SinglePack sump pump. Prior to our installation, the basement did have a sump pit, but it was basically just a hole in the ground. The SinglePack was a significant upgrade and tied a lovely bow on the waterproofing system. With all these products working in tandem, this home now has great protection from the weather!
