Austin has experience in all areas of home improvement. In 2006 he started up his own general contracting company. Not only did he perform the manual labor himself, including such tasks as masonry work, plumbing, structural repairs, framing, sheet rocking, etc., he also developed relationships with many homeowners and vendors. Prior to opening his company, he was a supervisor to an on-site demolition crew. Here he gained experience in general construction and home remodeling with a focus on region-specific design aspects.
Kevin Koval, President of Adirondack Basement Systems, hired Austin after a long, thorough search for a highly qualified contractor to fill a Foreman position 7 years ago. He was impressed with Austin’s background with working in all aspects of home remodeling as well as his personal attributes such as his honorable work ethics, relationship building skills, and positive attitude.
Austin enjoys spending as much of his free time as he can outdoors and with his wife. During the warmer weather he always has his canoe loaded up on his truck and ready to go fishing on the local waters. When he’s on dry land he enjoys golfing and grilling/entertaining for his friends and family.

A homeowner in Philmont, NY had a concrete walkway with steps that were unlevel. This caused a safety hazard for tripping and they wanted to have it fixed to ensure nobody would get injured. They contacted Adirondack Basement Systems for a free estimate on our PolyLevel repair system. PolyLevel is an alternative to mud-jacking in that it is lightweight and won't cause future sinking of the slab. It is installed by injecting a polyurethane polymer beneath the slab that raises it. Waterproof and environmentally safe, you never have to worry about it washing out from beneath the concrete and affecting the environment.
This particular job called us with concerns of water leaking into her basement after heavy rainstorms. In the before photo, you can see just how much this rain was really affecting the basement, causing the wall and floor to look dirty. We installed our WaterGuard drainage system, along with our TripleSafe Sump Pump System. This system keeps your basement dry with three levels of protection, in case the water ever rises past the first main pump, or if your power ever goes out. Your basement won't flood with this system put into place. Now, she can put her stuff back into the basement again without having them getting wet.
A homeowner in Slingerlands, NY was looking to have one of his basement windows converted to an Egress window. They met with one of our certified basement specialists to receive a free estimate. Upon receiving the free estimate, they discussed options for a window well including the ScapeWel and RockWell. They ultimately decided to go with the RockWell. The rock texture is aesthetically pleasing and it features steps for a safe escape in the event of an emergency. What makes them better than traditional plastic wells is that they are solid in construction, UV stable, rut and rust proof, and unaffected by extreme temperatures. You will never have to worry about backfill or water leaking into the well. These window wells are the perfect choice for durability and aesthetics!
Once you finish your basement, you're going to be spending a lot of time enjoying your new space. As is the case with any other living area, it's important to feel safe and be safe at all times when you're there. If you have an emergency in the house, such as a fire upstairs, you will be much safer with more than one way out of the basement. Adirondack Basement Systems offered this lovely couple in Albany the ScapeWEL Window Well System as a way to make their basement safer, more beautiful and code complaint.
Homeowners in Albany, NY have a concrete walkway leading to their front porch that had sunken significantly. Our PolyLevel system was used to raise it back to its intended position. This was done by injecting a poly-urethane polymer underneath the slabs. This light-weight high-density polymer is a more ideal solution than mud-jacking. Mud-jacking creates more weight beneath the slab and will only make it sink again in the future. It is also waterproof and environmentally friendly so you don't have to worry about it ever washing out.
A homeowner contacted our team concerned about her failing french drain system in her basement. With water not draining appropriately and pooling near the base of the stairs, our design specialist Bill suggested the perfect solution to keep her basement dry ALL the time.
Shown in the after photo is our patented Triple Safe Sump Pump System. The sump pump features two high power pumps and a battery operated pump in the event that the power goes out to ensure your system is always working. Our back up battery alone can pump out 12,181 gallons of water! Our foreman Austin and his crew did a great job installing the Waterguard and Trenchdrain Systems for the homeowner as well. Both systems create drainage pathways for water and moisture to head straight to the sump pump. Waterguard lines the perimeter of the basement and is then neatly covered and leveled off with new cement as can be seen in the after photo. A Trenchdrain is placed at the base of stairs, a problem area for which we provided a lifetime solution to!
The homeowner no longer has to worry about faulty drainage!

The "S" family wanted to reconstruct the existing basement of their new home upon moving in, to have a comfortable and great looking space to enjoy. They chose the combo of our patented EverLast Walls and our ThermalDry Canyon Beige Tiles. Our EverLast Walls are durable 2 1/2" cement board panels with an anti-microbial non-organic vinyl finish. Not only do they look great- but they protect your health and safety as well! Due to the vinyl finish they are mold resistant and washable. The "S" family took advantage of our SaniDry XP energy-efficient dehumidifer as well, that way their family is always protected from allergens and microbials. The ThermalDry floor tiles add the perfect touch to their basement and keep the floor up to ten degrees warmer than the cold cement basement floor! This is because each tile has footing that raises it off the floor, which also creates a barrier from any moisture or vapor from reaching the surface. One huge advantage of our ThermalDry flooring is that each tile snaps together allowing creative freedom in design as well as ease in replacing a single ruined tile. The "S" family was very pleased with the results of their installation done by our foreman Austin and his crew and can now enjoy their basement ALL the time!
Homeowners in Summit, NY had a damp crawlspace and were looking for a solution to create a clean and dry environment beneath their house. After the homeowners called Adirondack Basement Systems to set up their free estimate, Design Specialist Jon Roz came to inspect their crawlspace and recommended the perfect products. Foreman Austin and his crew installed CleanSpace vapor barrier to cover the dirt floors and blocked foundation to prevent moisture from accumulating. A SmartDrain was also installed so that if there are any future plumbing leaks, homeowners will be alerted and can get the issue fixed rather than not knowing due to water previously soaking into the dirt floor. Lastly, they chose to have one of our patented SaniDry Sedonas installed to keep the air dry and free of mold and mildew.
