No two basements are alike, which means no two jobs are the same, as well. However, when it comes to a complete waterproofing system, the same few products are typically involved because they’re effective and work great together. This project started off like any other, with lots of measurements and planning. A full-fledged diagram of the basement was drawn up by a design specialist so everything is accounted for and the installation team knows exactly what to do. They took the plan and got to work with the proper products. First, they removed the very bottom portion of the wall where it meets the floor to make room for the WaterGuard. Similarly, they dug out a path for the TrenchDrain along portions of the concrete floor. Both these products were then installed and filled in with new concrete and the wall was repatched. Their job is to collect incoming water and direct it to the sump pump, which this home already had, but we upgraded it with a TripleSafe system that is top of the line and more than capable of handling high levels of water. With that, the waterproofing system was complete and this basement no longer has to feel the constant threat of water over its shoulders!
This basement was having issues with water seeping in from the walls and ground, leading to small pools forming around the area. After meeting with one of our Design Specialists and walking through the basement with them, the homeowner decided upon one of our most common, effective waterproofing methods. The two primary products used in this job were WaterGuards and sump pumps.
The process started by mapping out where the WaterGuards would be installed and the optimal location for the two sump pumps. WaterGuards run along the joists where the wall meets the floor so they can collect any seeping water coming from either direction and redirect it to the drainage system, so in this case it would go to one of the sump pumps. To install WaterGuards we had to take apart the bottom of the wall and carve out a bit of the floor to provide the proper space needed to fit the product. Once the system was laid down properly and secured, we covered up the gaps and holes we made.
There was already a drainage system in place, so one of the sump pumps could be easily installed into this pre-existing location, which made things easier. Another sump pump was needed, however, to manage the large space and to keep a single pump from being overwhelmed, so we had to create another spot for a pump and hook it up to the drainage system. Two different types of pumps were installed in the end—an UltraSump and a Single Pack—both of which are highly effective and capable of keeping water out of the basement. And with the WaterGuards system’s assistance in collecting invading moisture, this home won’t have to worry about pooling water any more.
