Montgomery County Basement Waterproofing Contractors & Sump Pump Installation

A homeowner in Amsterdam, NY was experiencing humidity issues in their basement. This was starting to make the floors curl upstairs, which left the homeowner understandably concerned. Homes are often times our biggest investment. The night prior to calling Adirondack Basement systems for their free estimate, they noticed water seeping in through the old foundation walls. Fed up with these concerns, the homeowner knew it was time to find a solution.

After meeting with one of our Design Specialists, the homeowner agreed that our SaniDry would be the ideal solution to their moisture problem. The rim joists would soon be dry and the air less humid. The homeowner can now rest assured that their floors will no longer buckle!

This customer called us with concerns about their floors sagging and buckling in a few rooms. The water was coming up through the crawlspace and causing the floors to get damp and start to bow. We sent out our Design Specialist, Jon Roz, and he proposed the CleanSpace Encapsulation. The first step for this encapsulation is to lay down the drainage matting under the clean space liner. This matting is a dimpled drainage system that collects the water from the floor and directs it to a drainage pipe. On top of that matting will lay the white liner that covers the walls and floor, which stops the cold, humidity, and moisture from entering and moving through the home. This liner will also prevent mold from continuing to grow in a damp crawl space. With the encapsulation, we also installed our SaniDry Sedona, which will be used to keep the humidity low in the space.

This homeowner’s basement was having problems with flooding water. They called us and one of our knowledgeable, experienced design specialists went in to survey the area and determine why it was happening and how to fix it. The main issue found with the basement was their drainage system, so the homeowner received recommendations on potential plans and products. Once the details were agreed upon, our installers went to work. First, our team installed a SuperSump system, providing the basement with a powerful pump to keep any potentially intruding water out and far enough away from the house to keep it from coming right back. This sump system was also equipped with the proper add-ons (such as an IceGuard) to keep it protected and working efficiently even in the face of frost, snow, or a power outage. Next, to keep any water that gets into the basement from pooling and causing damage, a WaterGuard XL drainage was added. This product is faster, easier to install than similar ones on the market, and nearly invisible when completed. It hugs the edges where the wall meets the floor and captures water seepage through the walls and leaks along the joint. The water then is redirected to the SuperSump and pumped out of the house. With these two products working in tandem, this basement will be free of water year-round. 

Sump pumps of the past just won’t cut it in northeast weather. Rain is constantly pouring down on our yards and homes and without the proper protection, it’s only a matter of time before your basement gets flooded. A good place to start is the sump pump. Our sump pumps are leagues ahead of any others that are out there; some are basically just holes in the ground. This job involved our TripleSafe sump pump which has three power settings so it can handle high volume of water coming in. Plus, it has a built-in backup battery in case the power goes out during a bad storm as well as an alarm that lets you know when the water is reaching high levels, taking the guesswork out of things. Installation is super simple, especially when there’s a pre-existing sump location like in this home. The TripleSafe can easily be hooked up and placed in the exact same spot. Now, this house has consistent, reliable protection against water!

There are three important pieces to a sump system: the pump, the IceGuard, and the EDC/LawnScape Outlet. The pump installed in this job was our TripleSafe, which has three pumping levels that automatically shift depending on how much water is coming in. It also comes with a backup battery that keeps it running in the event of a power outage; a super useful feature with how northeast thunderstorms can go. The IceGuard attaches to the EDC outside and keeps the discharged water from freezing in the winter months; another useful thing to have in upstate NY. The LawnScape Outlet was placed far enough away from the house that the water that’s been pumped out doesn’t go right back into the house. While these may technically be three different products, they are never kept apart due to their effectiveness. 

This waterproofing job was a bit unique. The plan itself was an all-around waterproofing system with CleanSpace, WaterGuard, and a TripleSafe sump pump—but there was a slight catch. Portions of the wall behind the wooden staircase leading down into the basement experienced significant leaks and dampness. In order to access the area, the staircase had to be removed so the team could get at the wall and put up the CleanSpace and install the WaterGuard. They started with the WaterGuard since that required removing parts of the wall and floor. Once that was in place and the concrete was repoured, the installers put up CleanSpace along the walls. After that was completed, the team replaced the stairs and everything was good as new. Work then moved on to the rest of the basement, which was easily accessible and much like any other waterproofing job. The same work to install the WaterGuard and CleanSpace was done on the rest of the walls. As for the sump pump, there was already a pre-existing sump pit, so the TripleSafe could be easily placed right in that spot, hooking up to the established pipes, but then the team extended the discharge line to a further distance so the incoming water doesn’t just run right back into the basement. With all this completed, the basement was well-equipped to handle any water Mother Nature decides to throw at the home!

Now that we have installed the push piers, the homeowner and his family no longer have to worry about the foundation and can focus on other parts of the home.
