Here’s a great look at how our CleanSpace vapor barrier can transform an old, musty crawlspace into a well-protected, waterproof area. Crawlspaces are commonly overlooked spots in houses because people think there’s not a lot going on down there, but they are absolutely vital to the health of the house. If left unattended to, water seeps in and wreaks havoc, causing damage, mold, and unhealthy air that rises into the rest of the house and causes that stuffiness far to many of us are familiar with. CleanSpace helps to alleviate this and keep the water at bay with its 20mm thick, 7-layer polyethylene composition. And, as an added bonus, your house won't lose as much heat in the winter because CleanSpace acts as an insulator as well! CleanSpace is super durable and easy to install, giving your crawl space much-needed protection from invading water, all while providing it with a sleek, updated look to an area of your home that could always use a little bit of love.

CleanSpace is a great product because it does two highly important things at once: waterproof and insulate. During the rainy season, CleanSpace’s 4-layer polyethylene composition acts as a vapor barrier, protecting the area from invading moisture. In the winter, CleanSpace helps stop heat from escaping so easily, meaning CleanSpace not only protects the crawl space, but also saves you money in the long run. Solving water issues in a basement is not something that can be accomplished without complete care and attention being given to the home. In cases where a full perimeter system is called for, anything less won’t cut it. A partial system may protect a certain area of the basement, but that would only force the water to find other entry points and come into the basement in higher concentration. After surveying this basement in particular, our design specialist advised the homeowner to go with a full waterproofing system in order to get rid of the problem once and for all. A plan of action was mapped out and handed off to the installation team to get the job done. The first step taken was to remove portions of the wall and floors where the two meet, making room for the WaterGuard. WaterGuard’s purpose is to collect water coming in from the outside soil and directing it to the sump pump, which in the case of this home, was a TripleSafe. The TripleSafe has numerous features that help it produce at its peak performance, such as a WaterWatch alarm, backup battery, and tri-pump setup. All three of these features keep the basement dry even in the event of horrible storms and power outages. Finally, after replacing the missing portions of the floor and wall, CleanSpace was spread around the perimeter of the basement to act as a vapor barrier, keeping water from seeping through from outside the home and causing damage. CleanSpace is incredibly durable and redirects the moisture down into the WaterGuard, playing a vital role in maintaining a dry, healthy basement!
We don’t work just on homes! Here at Adirondack Basement Systems, we also do commercial jobs. This one involved doing window work for a local business that needed an upgrade in that sector. One of our certified design specialists visited the location and took a look at the pre-existing windows, determining what the best course of action would be. The main thing the owner of the property wanted was to get larger windows that would increase the amount natural light entering the office. But since the windows were close to the sidewalk and entrance, so the window well needed to be properly covered for safety reasons. Once a plan was drawn up and agreed upon by both parties, it was passed off to the installation team.
The team began by digging a sizable area to give them room to work. They removed the old windows and precisely cut a larger opening so the bigger windows could fit. After they were secured and any slight openings were filled in, the installers then got to work on the RockWell, which is super durable and enhances the look of the property. Finally, the new windows and wells were double-checked for any errors, then the team placed coverings atop the RockWells to protect them from the elements and prevent anyone from accidentally falling in. With everything completed, this office had a clean, updated look that helped spruce up the property!
This job story highlights two products commonly featured in our waterproofing systems: CleanSpace and WaterGuard. In the first few pictures, you can see the beginning steps of the installation process. WaterGuard attaches where the floors meet the walls so in order to get in there, our team had to remove portions of both to make room. They then installed the WaterGuards in a path that leads to the sump pump so they can collect water seeping in from the outside soil and redirect it to the pump. Once the path is laid out properly, the team filled in the bits of the wall and floor they removed so the basement looks how it did before and so the WaterGuard is fastened in properly. Paired with this, CleanSpace is a vapor barrier that was spread and attached to the walls of the basement. Installation is super simple and doesn't intrude on the original set up of the basement. This 4-layer polyethylene composition is durable and reliable, giving this homeowner peace of mind knowing that they are protected from moisture, especially with the WaterGuard also in place!
Windows are an important part of any basement. Not only do they provide natural light and a nice aesthetic, but they also play a vital role in keeping the house dry and insulated. When a basement window (or any window for that matter) grows old, gaps and cracks appear, allowing heat to escape and water to enter, posing problems for the home on two fronts. This customer was not happy with the condition their windows were in so they called us to take a look and see how we could help.
The job started with the typical rounds of surveying and measuring. We checked the condition each window was in and gauged how displaced they were from their original positioning and how bad the gaps were. We also measured the precise size of the windowsills, so we ordered replacements with the exact dimensions needed. Every window is custom-ordered because it’d make no sense to try and fit a window to every basement—each sill is different! Once our measurements are checked and double-checked, we ordered the replacement EverLast windows. When they arrived, we took out the old windows and installed the new EverLast windows, securing them tightly in the sill to provide the best protection from the elements. Not only are EverLast windows a great choice to insulate and seal, but they also add a fresh look to the basement!
This job highlights two of our most popular products: the TripleSafe and our WaterGuard system. This homeowner had serious concerns about the levels of water able to consistently get into their basement. The area, as evident by the pictures, is rather large, which means more space for water to penetrate and more areas to protect—which is where the TripleSafe and WaterGuards came into play.
The first step in the process was to go along the walls and lay out the most efficient pathway for the WaterGuards to go. When that is completed and double-checked, the installation team goes in and removes the base part of the wall where it meets the floor and installs the WaterGuard along the joist. WaterGuard collects seeping water from either the walls or floor and directs it to the TripleSafe where it is pumped out of the house and to a safe distance away. And on that note, let’s take a look at the TripleSafe installation process. To start, we decided on a location that would be most efficient for the sump pump based on the layout of the basement and the piping. Next, we head outside and measure a good distance for the LawnScape Outlet so the water flows out of the house and doesn’t just come right back in. With the preliminary measurements and layout completed, all that was left was to install the TripleSafe system and connect it to the Waterguards. Working in tandem, these two products are a dynamic duo at keeping basements clean and dry!
