Recently, a homeowner in Schroon Lake, NY faced a pressing issue: a damp and mold-prone crawl space. This moisture wasn't just an inconvenience for the crawl space — it permeated the home, elevating humidity levels and leading to worrisome mold growth throughout the property. Seeking respite from musty odors and concerned about long-term damage, the homeowner turned to us at Adirondack Basement Systems for help.
Starting the process, a call to our Customer Care Specialist set everything into motion. They efficiently scheduled an appointment for our System Design Specialist to carry out a thorough inspection. Our experience quickly revealed the root cause of the problem: a vented, unsealed crawl space.
Our solution was the installation of the CleanSpace® crawl space encapsulation system. Our production team, including a knowledgeable foreman and skilled installers, set to work transforming the vulnerable foundational area. Utilizing CleanSpace®, a robust, 20-mil, 7-ply liner, we sealed the crawl space, effectively locking out moisture and banishing mold allies.
The project concluded with an immaculate cleanup, all signs of our hard work removed save for a vastly improved crawl space. The home immediately experienced a shift in its internal climate. Musty odors dissipated, and mold growth concerns vanished.

Window installations may appear to be a simple process, but it’s actually one of the most careful, meticulous jobs we do. It’s important that every measurement is done with absolute precision, otherwise the window won’t fit and it cannot be properly installed. Once our design specialist finished taking all the measurements and double-checking them carefully, the window was ordered and once it arrived, the installation team cleared out space both inside and outside the home to allow room to work. A section of the wall where the window would go was removed and the window was installed at the pre-marked location. Any slight gaps between the wall and the window were filled in to provide a tight seal, keeping water out and heat in. Our windows not only help protect your home, but they also give the space a fresh, updated look that you can be proud of.
The basement involved in this job was on the older side, even for an area like upstate New York. The walls were made of stone that had significantly deteriorated and were losing their integrity, spelling trouble for the foundation of the home. In a situation like this, there was only one solution: EverBrace.
EverBrace is a newer product of ours, designed to permanently secure basement foundations in the event of serious failure, which is what was happening in this home. In this instance, symptoms of complete foundation failure were cracked and crumbling walls. With a stone foundation (and any other basement type), this is bound to happen with time. Soil shifts and settles with the weather and changing seasons, putting more pressure on the walls, causing displacement and damage. EverBrace installation is an intense, grandiose installation job, so we assigned our best team to handle it! The process started by placing I-beams along the walls and spreading steel corrugated panels in between each beam, securing them to together strengthen the existing foundation structure. Following this step, a specialized rigid foam was injected behind the panels in order to fill in any space between the existing basement walls and the steel panels. Once these grueling tasks are completed, the weight of the home was transferred from the failing basement walls to the EverBrace system. And that’s that! The beauty of EverBrace is that it provides the strength and security of a new foundation without the cost and headaches of a complete foundation replacement.
EverBrace is our newest product in the foundation support sector. This job story showcases the impact this system can have on a struggling foundation. One of our experienced design specialists came in and surveyed the basement and analyzed the extent of the damage and displacement. The walls of the foundation were made of stone, which made them a perfect candidate for our EverBrace Wall Restoration System. EverBrace also works great on clay block and brick foundations. This basement in particular had all the telltale signs of a weakening foundation; bulging, bowing, cracking, and crumbling. After our design specialist drew up the plan and went over it with the homeowner, the installation team came in to keep the job moving.
EverBrace is a bit more of a complicated installation compared to other foundation support options, but it’s more than worth the extra work and care. The way our EverBrace system works is there’s steel corrugated panels that span between steel I-beams to strengthen the existing structure. Then, a specialized rigid foam is injected behind the steel panels to fill the voids between the pre-existing walls and the panels. This transfers the load from the deteriorating foundation to the new support system. When this job was completed, EverBrace gave this homeowner the security of a new foundation without the immense cost and hassle!
Here’s an example of a job done in a crawl space large enough to almost be a basement. Crawl Spaces comes in various shapes and sizes, especially depending on the year the home was built. Luckily, we’re prepared for any type of crawl space and are always ready to help out someone in need. This crawl space in particular suffered from consistent water infiltrating the area from the walls and ground. In order to alleviate this issue, an all-around waterproofing installation was done.
There were a few different products used and installed in this crawl space. The photos in this series primarily highlight the CleanSpace system, so we will focus on this product to begin. The walls were inspected to see which locations the water was coming in from. Was it one side of the crawl space or the entire thing? Unfortunately, it turned out that water was seeping through the porous concrete on all sides. The good news was that CleanSpace is a fantastic vapor barrier and was perfect for this home. The next step was then to measure the height and width of the walls, then cut the CleanSpace to perfectly fit the walls of this crawl space. CleanSpace is made up of a 7-layer polyethylene composition that is super durable and highly effective at keeping moisture at bay. This vapor barrier was installed with ease and paired with a TripleSafe sump system, helping to redirect the water into the drainage system to be pumped out by the pump. A big space like this means more opportunities for water to get in, so the TripleSafe is a fantastic choice because it can handle high levels of water with no problem. Then, as a finishing touch for this waterproofing system, a SaniDry Sedona (you can actually catch a glimpse of the dehumidifier in the 5th photo) was installed to help keep the humidity of the crawl space to a minimum. If the air in your home is feeling damp or musty, then it could be because your basement or crawl space has high humidity. The SaniDry Sedona helps eliminate that problem, giving you healthy air to breathe in for years to come.
And that did it for the waterproofing system. Thanks to these amazing products, damp crawl spaces and pooling water won’t be a problem anymore for this homeowner.
