This before and after highlights the tremendous transformation that our BrightWall panels can bring to a basement. While BrightWall panels are not necessarily a typical product used to finish basements, they are still a highly effectivevisually pleasing product on its own. BrightWall is a super easy product to install and instantly transforms damp, dreary basement walls into a clean-looking, protected space. Our BrightWall system is made of semi-rigid plastic panels that are joined together by trim strips. The panels are then attached to the existing basement wall with plastic fasteners. This product is completely maintenance-free along with being waterproof, stain-resistant, and easy to clean. BrightWall acts as a highly effective moisture and vapor barrier, working fantastically with our other waterproofing products to keep your basement clean and dry! By directing any incoming moisture down into the perimeter drain lines to be sent out by a sump pump, BrightWall is a perfect solution to water troubles and does it while freshening up the look of your basement!

In fact, old, vented crawl spaces are even more susceptible to the elements because they have absolutely no protection from the air outside. A cold, humid, or moist crawl space can create structural, comfort, and air quality issues for the rest of your home, which is why it's crucial to have a contractor check in on this space.

Adirondack Basement Systems specializes in a variety of crawl space services that will protect the rest of your home. We can install a crawl space vapor barrier to seal this space completely from the air outside, ensuring it stays dry and keeping pests away. We also offer crawl space sump pumps, drainage matting, air purifiers, and dehumidifiers for especially wet spaces, and if your crawl space houses pipes or appliances, crawl space insulation is another good idea.

Job Stories From Troy, NY
Egress Window Installation in Troy, NY

A homeowner from Troy, NY called with concerns about leaking and stuck basement windows. Apparently, the area around the windows has been painted recently, which caused some internal damage to the locks. Understanding that this could quickly increase moisture in the basement, if not fixed quickly, our Customer Care team sent a Design Specialist out right away.

The Design Specialist inspected the area and took precise measurements, to ensure proper fitting when the new windows were installed.

Once a plan was considered and approved, our production team seamlessly installed three new egress windows. Now, not only can the homeowner open and close the windows easily, all edges have been properly sealed to keep the home dry.

Wanting the best egress window for their basement, the homeowner decided to contact the experts at Adirondack Basement Systems. On the day of the sales appointment, Sales Representative Jeff arrived at the home to inspect the basement. Upon inspection and considering the homeowners wants and needs, he concluded that we would help by installing an Egress window with our Rockwell Window Well. He explained that this is the superior option because it meets code requirements for an escape route in a basement living area and also adds a good look to the home and with a window well cover, will keep water from getting in the basement! All of these benefits were exactly what the homeowner was looking for and was impressed with the product. He decided to move forward with the project. Wall Support and Basement Window Upgrade in Troy, NY

This job was a combination of foundation support and window installation. The foundation walls were bulging and cracking throughout the blocks in a number of locations. As for the window, they were rather dated and lost integrity as the basement walls faltered. To remedy this situation, we installed a series of PowerBraces along the affected walls to keep them from becoming displaced any further. They also get tightened during annual maintenances, bringing the walls gradually back to their original positions. As for the window, we removed the old one and cut a larger opening where the sill was to allow room for a bigger EverLast windows. These windows are great because they allow for more natural light, are energy efficient, and provide a cleaner look to the basement.

New Window and Well Installation Troy, NY

Window installations are a very careful process. Measurements have to be done with care and precision. They are taken from both the inside and outside of the home, checking then double-checking each one. And when a window well is involved, like in the case of this house, those measurements must also be carefully considered. Once the prep work is completed, custom windows are ordered. No two basement windows are the same, so any old window can’t just be plugged in. The fit must be perfect, which is why windows are specifically ordered for each job. Once the windows come in, the window well location is dug out to make room for the installation team to work. The crew removes the old window and inserts the new one, filling in any vague openings between the window and the sill so there's no entry points for water to get in or heat to escape. Then, on the outside of the home, the new window well is installed. With both products installed, the dirt that was removed is filled in and the team cleans up any other mess they made during the process. New basement windows provide a pop of sleekness to the look of the home while also protecting it from water, animals, and loss of heat.

PoweBrace Steel Beam Support in Troy, NY

This job involved revisiting a former customer of ours who had gotten a waterproofing system installed previously and wanted to get some foundation support. The problem that was discovered and of primary concern was buckling walls. A design specialist walked through and inspected the entire basement, checking each wall to see how displaced they were. Then, they marked off locations for the product that would be installed and created a mapped layout of the basement, detailing the entire system. The design specialist then presented the plan to the homeowner so they can go over and approve it. Once all the paperwork is settled, the installation team was brought in to get the job done!

The product chosen as the solution for this home’s foundation woes was a PowerBrace system. This product is custom ordered depending on the basement. Basements aren’t always the same height, so it’s important the size of the PowerBraces match up, otherwise they won’t be effective. So the proper size PowerBraces were brought in and custom-cut to fit perfectly in the basement. The team installed them at the marked off locations, attaching them at the base and top of the wall. PowerBraces are a great solution because installation is simple, requiring no outside excavation; all the team needed to do was attach them snugly to the walls. And as you can see in the photos, they can fit right in and around anything that's already present in the basement. With this PowerBrace system in place, the foundation of this home won’t suffer any further and over time the steel beams can be tightened over time and even correct the walls back to their original position!

EverLast Window Replacement in Troy, NY

Windows aren’t just for light and aesthetic purposes, they also are super important in a waterproofing system—especially basement windows. Water can easily slip through the cracks of old, rotted ones, leading to pools of water forming on the ground, which nobody wants. The process for our EverLast window replacements is simple and effective. First, we take careful measurements of the sill so we know the exact size window we need to order since each one is custom made. Once the window is brought in, we remove the old one and clear out the sill of any leftover debris. Then, we put in the EverLast, sealing it tightly and double checking that there’s no gaps or openings where water can get in and heat can get out. And that’s all there is to it. The basement is now better protected and insulated, plus it’s received a fresh new look!

Basement Waterproofing in Troy, NY

This customer contacted us because his existing sump system just wasn't doing the job and his basement was still getting a substantial amount of water coming into it. After a thorough inspection, our Design Specialist proposed a Waterguard system, which uses drain pipes installed around the perimeter of the basement, which is then covered with concrete. The system drains into a sump pump or other exterior drain, keeping the basement dry. He also suggested a Triple Safe sump pump system, which keeps your basement dry with triple the protection. Most sump pumps fail because of either a failed pump, a pump that can't handle high volumes of water or power failure. The TripleSafe System assures protection from all three problems. We also installed a Sanidry Sedona Dehumidification System. This is the world's most efficient, high-performance dehumidifier and filtration system, and prevents mold and musty odors. For the finishing touch, we installed Everlast maintenance free, reinforced, vinyl frame windows. The result was a clean, dry, fresh smelling basement!
