Crawl spaces are a vital piece of the house when it comes to support and air quality. If your crawl space is in rough shape, then chances are other parts of the home are feeling the effects of that. So what’s something that’s a common issue in crawl spaces? Let’s look at moisture, for example.
This homeowner had a crawl space that hadn’t been given much love or attention in the past, so water had free reign over the area—and where there’s water, there’s trouble. What this set of before and after photos displays is the CleanSpace portion of our installation job. The purpose of CleanSpace is to provide a vapor barrier for the crawl space. It not only reduces humidity and moisture in the crawl space, but also helps seal out cold drafts in the winter; a highly useful 1-2 punch. CleanSpace is super durable, made of a 20mm thick, 7-layer polyethylene composition, providing a guaranteed 25 year lifespan, which gives you years of peace of mind at the same time. CleanSpace is also compatible with any other product, so it is often paired with other systems to give the area a more well-rounded protection against moisture and other issues. And as evident by the photos, it also provides a nicer look to the crawl space; an added bonus with an already effective product.
A homeowner contacted us in concerns over the structural integrity of her crawlspace as well as dampness down there. We set her up with a free estimate with one of our crawlspace experts so that she could be provided with the perfect solution for her needs. During installation we used many of our patented products such as SmartJack supports, CleanSpace vapor barrier, and the SaniDry Sedona. SmartJacks not only provide supplemental support to sagging floor joists, but also help to lift them back to their original position over time. CleanSpace provides a barrier to the moisture that comes through the dirt floor and foundation walls, also made of organic material to prevent mold/mildew growth. The Sedona provides both humidity control and air filtration to make sure the air you breathe through your home is clean and dry.
This before and after highlights the tremendous transformation that our BrightWall panels can bring to a basement. While BrightWall panels are not necessarily a typical product used to finish basements, they are still a highly effective, visually pleasing product on its own. BrightWall is a super easy product to install and instantly transforms damp, dreary basement walls into a clean-looking, protected space. Our BrightWall system is made of semi-rigid plastic panels that are joined together by trim strips. The panels are then attached to the existing basement wall with plastic fasteners. This product is completely maintenance-free along with being waterproof, stain-resistant, and easy to clean. This basement has been entirely encapsulated using CleanSpace vapor barrier. CleanSpace is made of inorganic materials so it cannot support mold/mildew growth. Highly durable, pests won't find it easy to enter the encapsulated space. In fact, we are so confident in its durability that it is installed with a 25-year warranty against rips and tears. An added benefit of this barrier is that it acts as a passive radon mitigation system as well as being fully compatible with your active radon mitigation system.
