The "J" Family called Adirondack Basement Systems because they kept getting water up through their floor, they had a sump pump, however; the water was not finding its way into the sump. Our foreman Chris Hurley and crew installed a new TripleSafe sump pump and 143 feet of WaterGuard around the perimeter to direct the water into the sump. The basement is now dry, secure, and able to be used for safe storage.
A homeowner in Delmar, NY contacted us looking to turn her basement into a clean dry space that she could use as an office and library. One of our basement finishing specialists met with the homeowner and went over all of the possible options she had to make the space her own. The homeowner decided on our ThermalDry flooring, CleanSpace vapor barrier, Zen Wall, Sanidry Sedona, and EverLast Windows.
She chose ThermalDry Sandstone tile for the flooring- a product that is inorganic and protects from moisture/mold and a cold basement floor. CleanSpace vapor barrier was used to protect the walls from moisture and mold. Zen Wall was used in some areas to help insulate the walls and provide a clean look. The Sedona was installed to control humidity levels and remove any excess moisture from the space while filtering the air. Lastly, the EverLast Windows provided new clean windows that would help with heat loss and prevent water seepage, bugs and the like from entering the basement.
We recently introduced a NEW flooring product to our customers, the ThermalDry Elite Plank Flooring. Real wood should never be installed on a basement floor because it absorbs water vapor from the concrete and swells, gets moldy, and rots.
Our ThermalDry Elite Plank Flooring has no wood at all, and it will not be affected by moisture or water in any way. Our ThermalDry Planks have raised pegs on the bottom that suspend them above the cold, hard, damp concrete floor, allowing the floor to breathe. Water vapor does not get trapped underneath your finished flooring. If there is a leak, the ThermalDry Elite Plank Floors can easily be removed, dried out, and reinstalled without having to be replaced with new planks.
Our floors give you that luxurious look without the worry.
Adirondack Basement Systems recently had the opportunity to assist The Nassau Free Library in Nassau, NY. The crawl space below the library needed a vapor barrier and some much-needed support to stop the floors from sagging.
Bill Seabridge is one of our structural System Design Specialists, once he was assigned this inspection he was right out there to propose a solution for this amazing facility! Bill proposed SmartJacks to replace the old style jacks they were using to support the structure. He also proposed CleanSpace crawl space encapsulation system.
The library had a dirt crawl space under it, this damp environment is very unhealthy and destructive. The CleanSpace encapsulation system completely isolated the library from the earth, this dramatically reduced the humidity level in the air which, when combined with sealing outside air and dehumidification, eliminated mold growth and rot from their crawl space, this has made the entire library a healthier place.
